2. Who your contract is with

When you complete a booking, the rental agreement is formed between you and the supplier whose offer you selected, under that supplier's own terms. Those terms decide the fuel policy, the insurance product, the mileage allowance, the age and licence requirements and what happens if the car is damaged. Read them before you pay. Where anything on this website disagrees with the supplier's rental agreement, the rental agreement is the document that governs your hire.

We receive a commission from the booking platform when a referral turns into a completed hire. That commission does not change the price you are quoted.

3. Prices, currency and availability

Prices are displayed in euro and are supplied to us by the booking platform. Mauritius uses the Mauritian rupee, so a card issuer may apply its own conversion and fees at the moment you pay. Local charges that a supplier collects at handover, such as an additional driver fee or an optional cover upgrade, sit outside the figure shown in the results grid.

Availability moves constantly, particularly between November and April when demand on the island is highest. An offer shown in a search result is an indication rather than a reservation, and it is only held once the booking platform confirms it.

4. Driver requirements

Every supplier sets its own minimum age, minimum licence-held period and documentation rules, and those are stated on the individual offer. In general you will need a valid driving licence held for at least one year, a passport or national identity document, and the booking reference. Licences in English or French are widely accepted in Mauritius; if yours is in another language, an International Driving Permit is the simplest way to avoid a disagreement at handover. It is your responsibility to check the requirements on your chosen offer before you book, and to make sure every person who will drive is named on the rental agreement.

Mauritius drives on the left. You are responsible for driving in accordance with local law, including speed limits, alcohol limits and seat belt rules.

5. Changes, cancellations and refunds

Cancellation and amendment rights come from the supplier and from the booking platform that processed your payment, not from us. Many offers on this website are marked as free cancellation, and the deadline for that is stated on the offer itself. Requests to change dates, change the pickup point or cancel a booking go to the booking platform, and we will help you find the right channel if you write to us. We cannot issue a refund for a booking we did not take payment for.

6. Cover, damage and security holds

Insurance is a product of the supplier. What the basic cover in the day rate pays for, what an upgraded or zero excess product adds, and what remains excluded are all defined in the rental agreement. Where an offer is marked as having no deposit, that describes the supplier's handling of a security hold at handover and nothing more. It does not alter your responsibility for damage, fines, tolls or fuel, and it does not replace the cover terms printed on your agreement.

Any dispute about the condition of a vehicle, a charge raised after the hire, or a claim under a cover product is settled between you and the supplier.

7. Accuracy of the information here

The guides on this website describe roads, drive times, seasons and fleet composition in Mauritius as accurately as we can, and the car listings are drawn live from the booking platform. Fleets change, roads are resurfaced and opening hours move. Nothing written here is professional, legal or insurance advice, and you should treat the supplier's own documentation as the authority on anything that affects your booking.

8. Using the website properly

You may browse, search and book for your own travel. You may not scrape the listings, resell the content, attempt to interfere with the search service, or submit a review that is not your own honest experience. We may withdraw access from anyone who does. The text, page structure, photography and branding on this website belong to Mauritius Drive or to our licensors, and vehicle images and availability data belong to the booking platform and its suppliers.

9. Limits on our liability

Because we are a referral service, we are not liable for the performance of a rental supplier, the condition of a vehicle, a charge applied during or after a hire, or a journey that did not go as planned. We are also not liable for losses caused by the website being unavailable. None of this limits any right you hold under mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, and nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Changes to these terms, and how to reach us

We update this page when the service changes, and the review date at the top tells you which version you are reading. Continuing to use the website after an update means you accept the revised terms.
